
BURBANK, California — July 5, 2017 — (HISPANICIZE WIRE) — Estrella TV, the fastest growing, minority owned Spanish language television network in the U.S. revealed the new cast members for the fifth season of its hit reality series Rica Famosa Latina.
Scheduled to air in September, Rica Famosa Latina Season Five incorporates four new, talented celebrities to its roster, adding even more spice to its already diverse cast. Returning cast members Niurka Marcos, Mexican business mogul Luzelba Mansour, and Argentine model/actress Sandra Vidal are joined in this new season by two Venezuelan actresses, Mimi Lazo and Scarlet Ortiz, as well as Guatemalan born TV personality Ninette Rios and Panamanian model, beauty pageant titleholder, TV host, and actress Patricia de León.
Best known for her extensive work in Spanish-language telenovelas such as, Dulce Amargo, Mis 3 Hermanas, Secreto de Amor, Todos Quieren Con Marilyn and most recently Escándalos and La Fan, Scarlet Ortiz hails from Venezuela. She also participated in the world famous Miss Venezuela pageant in 1992 as Miss Sucre. Ortiz started her showbiz career in a children’s show called Nubeluz in Venezuela and in 2015 starred in her first film role as Maria de Nazaret in El Apostol Santiago.
Mimi Lazo, a seasoned film, television and theater actress in Venezuela, is internationally acclaimed for her notable role in the 1996 monologue El Aplauso Va Por Dentro, which she took on tour around Latin America and Europe. Beginning her acting career in the late 70’s, Lazo has an extensive and impressive list of credits that span over 15 films and 20 telenovelas. She is a decorated actress in both film festivals and theater, and in the year 2000 made her international debut in the highly acclaimed independent film Just For The Time Being alongside Eva Herzigová and Patrick O’Neil.
A former beauty pageant titleholder (crowned Miss Panama in 1995), Patricia de Leon is better known for her extensive work in television and film. She has worked in Spanish and English language television in both Panama and the US. As a host, she worked for Telemundo’s La Corte de Familia and La Corte del Pueblo, and was also featured in TV Azteca’s Juez Franco. After her stint in Spanish-language television, de Leon crossed-over to mainstream English-language television and had a successful career appearing in hit shows such as Lincoln Heights, Cold Case, Crossing Jordan and Ghost Whisperer, to name a few. She has also appeared in various films such as Fighting For Freedom and Bad Ass alongside Danny Trejo and Ron Perlman.
Ninette Rios, a native Guatemalan, started her career in television as host of an entertainment news magazine show on Telemundo in the early 2000’s. Since then, she has become a seasoned television host working for various national Spanish-language TV shows. She is mostly known for her work on Univision’s morning talk show Despierta America. She is an experienced and well-respected journalist who has interviewed many Hollywood and Latin entertainment A-listers.
Rica Famosa Latina is the only “housewives” reality series in Spanish-language television. The highly anticipated fifth season promises to continue serving real life drama while following this new group of successful Latinas and the glamorous lives they lead.
