MIAMI, FL – May 26, 2021 – (NOTICIAS NEWSWIRE) – IMC Health Medical Centers delivered over 400,000 hot meals to its most vulnerable patients during the COVID-19 pandemic. In response to the COVID-19 stay-at-home orders, the number of meals delivered daily immediately doubled from 700 to 1,400.
IMC Health prioritized patient care and launched the “Teleamigos” telemedicine option for members and initiated the biweekly Facebook Live show “La Ventanita” to provide accurate and updated information on the pandemic. The staff also mobilized for community outreach in partnership with national and local organizations impacting over 20,000 families in South Florida through distribution of essential care products and food drives.
“We are proud that IMC Health maintained its 5 Star score in Medicare quality and pharmacy measures across all health plans, due in large part to our expertly trained and experienced personnel which consistently provided top-notch care to our members. The systems we have in place allowed us to quickly identify high risk patients, deliver hot meals to them, and provide transportation to appointments throughout the pandemic,” stated Bill Lamoreaux, CEO, IMC Health
With the assistance of local and state elected officials like Miami-Dade County Commissioner Danielle Cohen Higgins, State Representative Marie Woodson, State Senator Ileana Garcia and State Senator Annette Taddeo, the centers were able to access vaccines for their elderly patients and have now become a community site to administer the COVID-19 vaccine.
“We are lucky to have IMC Health in South Dade. IMC Health cares for our elderly and prioritizes reaching communities that need healthcare the most. It was an honor for my office to assist IMC Health with securing 900 vaccines and fully vaccinating 500 residents. Vaccinating residents is the most important step we can each take to help our community recover, and I look forward to continuing to work with IMC Health to get us there. Together, we will build immunity through community,” stated Miami-Dade County Commissioner Danielle Cohen Higgins.
IMC Health invites the community to schedule an appointment to receive the vaccine by calling 786-254-0544.
