MIAMI, FL – February 22, 2022 – (NOTICIAS NEWSWIRE) – Accountable Impact and Social Impact Movement in partnership with CIC Miami officially launch the Sustainability Development Goals (SDGs) Impact Pledge in Miami. The award-winning social impact enterprises join forces to present its groundbreaking and innovative pledge as a vehicle for local companies committed to “Doing Well by Doing Good” which focus on the 3 P’s of sustainable development: people, planet and prosperity. Leading the way in advising governments and businesses on how to proactively incorporate social, environmental, and economic sustainability goals within their organizations, the program is offered as a cohort model providing mentorship, tools, strategies, and best practices to co-design a Sustainable Miami.
Miami is on the frontline of climate change. Social, economic, and environmental challenges will intensify and have a profound impact on its residents:
— Greater Miami is the second-most unequal large metro in the nation.
— Poverty is widespread, and it is most severe among the most vulnerable. Poverty has stark racial dimensions. Miami’s economy is dominated by its low-paid service class.
— Seas are projected to rise in Miami-Dade County by more than 15 inches in the next 30 years, increasing flood risk further inland and with greater frequency.
— Communities of color will likely bear the heaviest burden from the changes wrought by climate change, including more deaths from extreme heat and property loss from flooding in the wake of sea-level rise.
“To advance the SDGs, we need authentic collaboration and meaningful partnerships. The SDG Impact Pledge is designed as a Community of Practice to share, learn, innovate, and find sustainable solutions to local and regional issues. The Pledge will be amplified as an advocacy mechanism to emphasize the need to collaborate among the private and public sector to adopt the SDGs in Miami. We believe this effort will lead to systems change in policy making, corporate governance, business action and community engagement in building a sustainable Miami for all,” said Accountable Impact Founder and CEO Scarlett Lanzas.
“Since 2018 Social Impact Movement has been inspiring, engaging, and connecting stakeholders to global discussions addressing social impact and sustainability. The Covid Pandemic evidenced the need for scaling up our community work, implementing programs that educate our leaders. Selecting the right partners, forming networks, and training them is how we structure the foundations for social change. I challenge our leaders to choose sustainable development as a collective Miami choice for local governments, businesses, and civil society. The SDG Impact Pledge is tailored to support startups to mid-size businesses with an entry level program to incorporate sustainability into strategies. Business that will thrive in the future are including sustainability in their DNA today” stated Claudia Akel, Founder and CEO, Social Impact Movement
“As we continue to race forward into an age of exponential growth and transformation, CIC is increasingly more committed to our mission; to change the world through innovation. But innovation does not make sense for us if it is not related to fixing real problems, especially those that magnify progress and create true social impact. CIC has always been deeply energized by the powerful work of our clients and partners. Their creation of critical networks is the fabric which strengthen our vibrant communities. The SDG Impact
Pledge is a prime example. South Florida is uniquely positioned to thread the needle between tech and global SDGs efforts by forging tomorrow’s answers to today’s problems. CIC Miami is thrilled to take part in and provide support to the incredible and much needed work that the SDG Impact Pledge addresses in the social impact and sustainability sectors”, CIC Miami, Alejandra Winter, Director of Operations & Innovation, and Maria Paula Domínguez, General Manager
“The Sustainable Development Goals are a framework to transform our community. As mayor I am committed to advancing the four E’s that are a key platform of my administration: Economy, Environment, Equity and Engagement, to make sure we are focused on building a stronger more equitable community where all families can thrive. Collaboration across sectors and stake holders is crucial to unlock opportunities to achieve sustained growth for current and future generations of Miami Dade residents. In Miami we have SDG champions like Accountable Impact and Social Impact Movement which are committed to advancing SDG’s by building a community of practice and the SDG Impact Pledge for local companies that are pioneering change by integrating sustainable practices and models,” affirmed Miami-Dade County Mayor Daniella Levine Cava.
