ATLANTA, Georgia – August 30, 2013 – (HISPANICIZE WIRE) – The AARP Georgia State Office in Atlanta announces it will be sponsoring a one-day special event featuring long-term care planning sessions. The Living Longer, Living Smarter session will highlight AARP’s initiative, Decide.Create.Share.(SM) and will be held at The Hyatt Midtown – The Avalon Room on Friday, September 6, offering varying times: 11:30am-1pm (lunch event) and 6:00-8:00pm (reception & program), so guests may attend at their convenience. AARP’s Decide.Create.Share.(SM) initiative empowers women with valuable information, free resources and interactive tools on its newly launched website, http://www.decidecreateshare.org to complete their long-term care plan in just a few steps.
“Women have always been the care takers of spouses, children, parents, and family members, but we somehow manage to forget to take care of our own needs,” says Jewel Constance, Associate State Director. “The Living Longer, Living Smarter seminars will focus on highlighting topics that are important in long-term care planning for women – so we are planning an empowering, informative, open dialog and educational sessions for our guests.”
AARP recently launched its Decide.Create.Share.(SM) website, http://www.decidecreateshare.org that encourages women to take a 40 Day Pledge to complete their long-term care plans. The Pledge is the first step toward using the interactive, step-by-step planning process found on the website. Over 40 days, participants are guided through four major topic areas – Health, Finances, Legal, and Home and Community – in sizing up their situation and developing a customized plan.
Our goal is to have women take time out of their busy schedule to think about themselves for a moment. To think about where they see themselves in the future and what plans they’ll need to get them there. The Living Longer, Living Smarter complimentary session will briefly guide guests through the planning process. A free take-home Resource Guide will be used during the session. The seminar leader will touch on the four major topic areas vital to long-term care planning and talk about the Decide.Create.Share.(SM) initiative and the 40 Day Pledge. Anyone interested in attending may register at http://aarp.cvent.com/decidecreateshare.
