LOS ANGELES, CA – April 27, 2016 – (HISPANICIZE WIRE) – The band MONOPLASMA, formed by Victor Monroy (vocalist of Pastilla) and Cesar “Vampiro” López (Maná, Azul Violeta, Jaguares), released their debut album entitled S.O.S. in the U.S., an album containing 15 original songs with a wide spectrum of musical influences that is now available in all platforms and digital stores. “Invasión” is the first single and music video under the production and direction of Benjy Estrada.
Victor and Vampiro share a friendship of many years and since 2011 they began working on music together. Shortly after, they created the new and well-received project that left excellent reviews in Mexico, where the album was released a few months ago. The name comes from Victor’s creative mind trying to put into words the vision of two things that materialize into one.
The beginning of the group “was almost a year long process where Cesar and I joined together to select 15 out of almost 30 songs that I wrote,” Monroy says, who composed the vast majority of S.O.S. “We started recording under the direction of Rafa Sardina, winner of 12 Grammy’s for his work with artists like Elvis Costello, Lady Gaga, Michael Jackson, Sheryl Crow and Juan Gabriel. We recorded the album in Los Angeles, with the participation of Enrique “Bugs González” (Jumbo, Los Lobos) on the drums, and the material was mixed in the Santa Monica Mountains with Alfonso Rodena, also winner of 3 Grammys (Tigres del Norte).”
Meanwhile, Vampiro, originally from Guadalajara, Jalisco and who is one of Latin America’s most prominent rock guitarists adds, “I really like the way Victor composes and in my case, that was the main reason to seek and create this project. Monoplasma began out of the pleasure of working together. After a while we had enough songs finished and decided to make this pleasure a group and to put out an album.”
Vampiro is a veteran guitarist who has left a great legacy in his passage with legendary and important Mexican rock bands. In his musical journey, he shares his discography with Maná (“Dónde Jugarán los Niños”), with Gerardo Enciso (“Cuentos del Miedo”), with Azul Violeta (“América” and “Globoscopio”). He also has his discography with Jaguares including “Bajo el Azul de Tu Misterio”, Live and Studio, “Cuando la Sangre Galopa”, “El Primer Instinto” and “Crónicas de un Laberinto”. With Belanova he participated in “Canciones para la Luna” and with Cristian Castro in La Esfinge on “El Cantar de la Muerte”.
Victor Monroy (vocals, bass, guitar and keyboards), originally from Mexico City, has earned the respect and admiration of thousands of followers in his native country and in the United States as a songwriter, vocalist and guitarist of the rock band Pastilla. Pastilla is the first internationalized Latin rock group formed in Los Angeles that conquered the Aztec land and remains in force. Among their discography highlights: Pastilla (Aztlan Records), Vox Electra (BMG), Hey!!! (Escúchalo Records), Telekinetik, A Marte (Sony Music) and Sentidos Saturados (Independiente).
Monoplasma recently performed their album successfully in Mexico City. Their first U.S. tour dates are beginning to be announced on their social networks, which include a performance in Chicago for Ruido Fest in July.
